Mouse Design:

Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 is the latest product in the Microsoft comfort line. It incorporates sleek, modern and ergonomic design and Microsoft® High Definition Optical technology that makes the mice products more precise, more responsive, and deliver smoother tracking. Ambidextrous design allows this mouse to be used by left and right hand users.
The mouse also has four ways scrolling which greatly enhances the user productivity and comfort. It is needles to say that the mouse buttons can be customized by using the IntelliPoint 5.3 Mouse software. IntelliPoint mouse software (included) is necessary for full functionality of the Tilt Wheel and Magnifier tool.

As one might suspect, the mouse did not perform well on the highly reflective surface. Although Microsoft advertises laser technology as superior to LED, not many improvements were noticed. Just like LED driven mouse, laser mouse had problems with the light dissipation and the correct movement tracking. Sometimes, when placed on the reflective surface, the cursor would move by itself.

Placed on the medium reflective surface, mouse performed rather well. The cursor would hiccup from time to time but overall would perform well. Used on the non reflective surface, the mouse excelled in its performance. This is where the laser technology comes handy delivering up to 1000 dpi so the user can precisely use this tool in various applications.

During the testing phase, the author of this review has worked mainly with the Photoshop and other image editing tools to test this product. The reason for this is the precise nature of the image editing and high pointer device precision is needed. The mouse performed well and delivered the precision required of it.
